Reading support that helps students grow with confidence.
Assessment, tutoring, and parent guidance from a certified Virginia reading specialist — serving Hampton Roads families in person and families beyond Virginia virtually.
Reading is complex. That's not your child's fault.
Some children struggle with reading even when they are bright and trying their best. Reading is a skill that needs to be taught clearly and step by step. When a child does not get the right amount of support, they can fall behind through no fault of their own.
Many kids who avoid reading, read slowly, or feel upset about school may simply need more help with the basics, like sounds, phonics, or reading smoothly. These gaps can make reading feel harder over time and can hurt confidence, motivation, and grades.
The good news is that children can improve with the right support. Reading struggles are not forever. They are a sign that your child needs a different approach.

About the Founder
A Reading Specialist Who Truly Understands What's at Stake
Tanisha Uzoatuegwu, Founder
Certified Virginia Reading Specialist · Former Middle & High School English Teacher · Literacy Leader
The founder of Let's Grow Literacy, LLC. believes that when students do not enjoy reading, they lose access to far more than words on a page. They lose confidence, communication, opportunity, and meaningful life experiences.
Many students who avoid reading don't actually dislike reading itself — they dislike the stress, fear, self-doubt, and frustration that can come with reading when they haven't received the support they need. That distinction matters deeply.
As a certified Virginia reading specialist and former English teacher with experience at the middle and high school levels, she brings both the science of reading and a deep understanding of students as whole human beings to every session.
"Reading difficulties are not the student's fault. Every child is uniquely made. It's our duty to provide each child with the support, structure, and instruction needed for them to grow."
Reading Skills
What We Work On
Let's Grow uses systematic reading instruction grounded in the science of reading to address the foundational skills students need to read with accuracy, fluency, and understanding.
Phonemic Awareness
The ability to hear, identify, and work with individual sounds in spoken words — the critical foundation of learning to read.
Phonics
Understanding the relationship between letters and sounds so students can decode new words accurately and independently.
Fluency
Reading smoothly, accurately, and at an appropriate pace — so cognitive energy can be directed toward meaning rather than decoding.
Vocabulary
Building a rich and growing bank of word knowledge that supports comprehension across subjects and grade levels.
Comprehension
Developing the strategies students need to actively understand, remember, and think critically about what they read.
Reading Confidence
Rebuilding a positive relationship with reading — so students begin to see themselves as capable, growing readers.
Why Trust Let's Grow Literacy, LLC
What Makes Let's Grow Literacy Different
Certified Expertise
Let's Grow is led by a certified Virginia reading specialist — not a general tutor. This means instruction is grounded in the science of reading, aligned with current literacy research, and delivered by someone trained specifically to address reading difficulties.
A Whole-Child Perspective
We never reduce a student to a test score. Every session is approached with care for the student as a whole person — their confidence, their story, and their potential. Reading growth happens in relationship, not just in drills.
Parents as Partners
You are not left out of the process. Let's Grow is committed to keeping parents informed, building your knowledge, and empowering you to advocate effectively for your child in school and at home.
Systematic Instruction
Every session uses structured, systematic reading instruction — the approach that research consistently shows is most effective for students across ability levels, including those who have struggled for years.
